This probably the only band singing metal in Savo dialect- Verjnuarmu means "bloodscratch" in English. I used to be one of the nasayers that said there wasn't even good melodic death worth listening to- I was wrong. Check It out.

Hey buddy faces! This is my debut post here at 504NOLA and I've decided to throw up some shit i caught Swampchode slam dancing to. I wouldn't have noticed such a thing until he sprained - not one of his cankles - but two! This is a pretty killer Finnish 6-piece that started out in 1997; they have a handful of excellent full-lengths under their belt that I will surely add in time if they are received well. Their name means ''The Hammers of the Underworld'' in English and they play an experimental form of metal, utilizing every instrument typically not associated within the metal genre. Anyway, don't let that fool you because they are known to cause stage-diving and accidents like Swampchode has suffered on account of them (cankle sprains and such). So, don't be a heauxmeaux, and check it out promptly.

Here's a disc I picked up way back in 98' that I forgot I had because it's so small and gets lost in the other cd's it shelves with..haha! What you have here is Cause For Effect from Finland with a jazz infused style of grindcore and Utter Bastard from San Francisco playing their brand of straight forwardgrind. This was released on a short lived Finnish label called Tylyt Levyt.

More on Cause For Effect can be found here and here. Utter Bastard was the reason I picked this lil'slab up in the first place. I picked up their debut ep when it came out back in 96' and have been a fan since. I have the majority of their out put except for the 2002 split w/ Irritate and the new split I just seen on their page here . My favorite release by Utter Bastard is the split they did with Deadbodieseverywhere back in 98' on 625 Productions. Check this mini disc out and leave some damn comments!

Formed in 1990, Deep Turtle was a product of the burgeoning underground music culture of the city of Pori, Finland. Deep Turtle's music fused the energy of hardcore punk, the harmonies of jazz, latin rhythms, and the experimentalism of progressive rock into a style, which was sometimes dubbed jazzcore  or weirdcore by listeners and reviewers. Signature elements of the band's music were an abundance of uncommon time signatures; frantic and abrupt mood changes between soft jazz tones and blistering punk  assault; nimble bass guitar work providing a counterpoint  to the guitar  attack; and often indecipherable lyrics delivered both in Spanish and in English. Some comparisons have been made to bands like Cardiacs  (Turtle's 1994 album in fact has a song titled Cardiako) and NoMeansNo.

Deep Turtle broke up in 1996 but reformed again in 2002, only to disband again in 2004 due to drummer Erjossaari's insurmountable difficulties with tinnitus, which forced him to quit the band.

Deep Turtle made Finnish music history by being the first Finnish band to be invited to do a John Peel session in 1994. Contrary to public belief, Peel was not present at the studio, and he never managed to meet the band in person.

This is the last Hanoi Rocks album before their drummer was killed in a car accident caused by Mötley Crüe's portly yakmaster, Vince Neil. Yeah, that was sad but they left us with one of the greatest pure rock & roll albums... EVER! Fucking goddamn, is this ever great. This is one of those albums that you'll listen to for the rest of your life. Also as a bonus on this addition are some great live songs taken from "All Those Wasted Years" recorded at Marquee Club in London in December, 1983. This band pretty much invented Guns 'n Roses:

Beherit - Oath Of Black Blood

2004 re-issue of the classic 1991 release. The black metal cliches "raw" and "primitive" barely scratch the surface of this one. Check this out from Encyclopaedia Metallum -

"Trivia:
Turbo Music sent a large sum of money to the Beherit members to record "The Oath of Black Blood" album, though they didn't expect that Holocausto and friends would spend all of money on drugs and booze. In the end, there was no album, so Turbo Music decided to release the "Demonomancy" demo along with "Dawn of Satan's Millennium" 7'' as a full length. It is still widely regarded as their first album."


Whether that story's true or not, Oath Of Black Blood and Drawing Down The Moon are Beherit essentials!


"One of the darkest, most brutal, most perverse creatures of the blackest abysses south of heaven! In the year 1991 "The Oath Of Blood" marked the debut-album of Finnish psychopaths BEHERIT. 99% of all Metalians hate them to the blood, while the rest truly worships them. No band ever has been deeper in the underground as BEHERIT here! Even the prime examples for the nihilistic sound like old DARKTHRONE or BLACK FUNERAL sound like mass-compatible chart-breakers compared to this one! The best produced track is the intro, but what then breaks loose is the pure hell (for each HiFi-friend!). Ten hardly definable walls of white noise, straight-ahead. Today I am gonna explore the more perverted side of black metal. I have at least 3 albums in mind that deal in slave whipping S&M type stuff. The first is Gaurithoth who were pretty unknown but put out some great music in the vein of Horna with more chanting type choruses. The vocalist yells out maniacal rasps complemented with melodic and evil guitar work. It's truly good stuff.

When I listen to this cd I get the Feeling that Reverend Bizarre is right even though I'm not entirely sure what about. After listening to this whole full length numerous times, I have come to the conclusion that this is perfect doom metal. It's too bad this great band split-up, but at least they left a huge amount of music. Enjoy!
