Sunday Driver on Tour

Hailing from Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Sunday Driver on Tour was
formed in 2008. Sunday Driver On Tour music is a mix of hard rock,
metal, stoner & southern rock influences.

"The idea to form a band reaches 2006. Zaczek & Malin who were playing together in NDC, decided to occasionally jam with their friend Molfer, ex-guitarist for the band Necrossis, who just got back from the army. The project work-name was “The Fridge”. The guys started to loosely jam and write some songs together. Unfortunately Zaczek’s & Malin’s obligations with NDC made it impossible to give their full attention to the project. The turning point appeared to be the breakup of NDC in 2008. Shortly afterwards the guys decided to focus on “The Fridge”. They found the drummer Talle’y from an advert. His unique drumming style seemed to fit perfectly for the project needs. It was then, when the band started to write their proper material, and it was also then when the bands final name Sunday Driver On Tour was decided. After few months of playing together, the quartet started to look for a lead singer, which eventually become Koper. Zaczek & Malin knew him from academic circles in Cieszyn, where they were collaborating in a project called Ilinks. Sunday Driver On Tour debut gig was on september 19th 2009 in Primus Pub in Czechowice–Dziedzice. In December the band went to Parabellum studio in Katowice to record their first EP called “Tales From Beyond”.

Let's check out some of these submissions.

Muddy Puddles

G'day,
here's something a bit different, an Australian Blues/jug type band.

Muddy Puddles is a band that used to tour around rural Victoria Australia around 1994 and had a good following in the pub/hotel scene.

Muddy Puddles were Geoff Donaldson, Ian Phillips and Ken Terrington.

Ken Terrington (Stringybark McDowell) still plays a one man show as well as with friends in jams and sessions and also on the Blues Train - http://www.bluestrain.com.au .

Sol & Blodtru, Old Europa Death Chants

A new collaboration from two Danish one man acts, Blodtru and Sol from Paradigms Recordings.

I'm a huge Sol fan, being the doom geek that I am, but hadn't heard too much from Blodtru. That said, I was a tiny bit disappointed with this one. That's not to say it's a weak album, it's not. I just felt like it could have been tied together a bit better. It starts with a full 10 minutes of chant with some feedback in the middle that brings to mind some of Sunn O)))'s work with Atilla. Then goes into Sol's normal style with obvious black metal influence, which works well.
There is less folk influence going on than I had expected from the label's description and from the summaries of Blodtru's work that I had read.

Overall though, a good release. It's definitely more subdued than what Sol fans will be used to. His other releases seem to favor a "wall of sound" approach, whereas this one is more contemplative, so this one will be good for those who found I am Infinity and Let There Be a Massacre to be a little too much.

As always, support the artist if you like what you hear!

River Gypsies - For the Lost and Beautiful

There's not a whole lot of bands in Elgin Illinois worth listening to, but this is one of them. An acoustic side project of a death metal band, its influences are all over the place, so in their own words:

"River Gypsies music is rooted from every kind of music, but the feel is very dark and Celtic.

Two acoustic guitars, minimal drums, very abstract yet melodic male vocals, and bass guitar when someone is around to play it (the album songs all have bass).

River Gypsies formed in January of 2008, when Mike Mahoney(Apraizal, How's Casney?) met Bjorn Andersen(Pooch Carver, Tropical Dad, Avernus) in Lake Villa, IL. The two were going through tough times and sought a way to express the raw emotions that were created by their dark pasts.

The two found that their styles mixed to form something new, unique, and therapeutic!! Neither member was any good at singing, so when they got together with singer/ song-writer/ producer, Doug Smith( Pooch Carver, Tropical Dad, Instints, Avernus...) amazing recordings began to appear!

The three are currently in the process of getting recognition, playing magical performances and evolving as recording artists. Truly, music from the lost and beautiful, for the lost and beautiful."

As always, if you like the music, help out the artist and buy the album!

Tracklisting
1. Fletus 39:18

"Yhdarl" is one of the most insane musical experiences you will encounter lets say outside of other black/ doom projects around today. It was interesting to hear that Deha has put together another project which is day and night compared to Yhdarl. A lengthy trip, but worth the time and fucking great atmopheric doom. For those who have trouble sleeping forget those nature sound recordings and run this through the earbuds.

Hey buddy faces! This is my debut post here at 504NOLA and I've decided to throw up some shit i caught Swampchode slam dancing to. I wouldn't have noticed such a thing until he sprained - not one of his cankles - but two! This is a pretty killer Finnish 6-piece that started out in 1997; they have a handful of excellent full-lengths under their belt that I will surely add in time if they are received well. Their name means ''The Hammers of the Underworld'' in English and they play an experimental form of metal, utilizing every instrument typically not associated within the metal genre. Anyway, don't let that fool you because they are known to cause stage-diving and accidents like Swampchode has suffered on account of them (cankle sprains and such). So, don't be a heauxmeaux, and check it out promptly.

Sorry for not posting as of late, I've been busy with work and all, but I found a little time to post this
! Here you have Subvert, a band from the Pacific Northwest that played a style of fast metal tinged hardcore similar to The Accused or "the mighty" Poison Idea but more politically charged, Amebix comes to mind! Subvert was in existence from 1986 - 1991, this slab complies almost all of the bands output, minus a split Lp with Antischism, titled "Thinning The Herd" from 1991. The singer, Eric Greenwalt went on to form Christdriver that put out an Lp on Profane Existence and now plays in a band called Black Noise Cannon. Check this out and chatter back!

2010 sure was one hell of a year......

I was a busy busy dude, especially during the last six months, job/career change, moving, and blah blah blah.  Well, 2011 is finally here, I know I haven't posted anything in a while, but thankfully everyone else has been posting up some great albums.  We've received a lot of reader submitted albums that I finally took the time to go through and check out.  So in the next few days I'll be posting them up along with some local New Orleans live videos that I've been filming at shows all year.  I just wanted to say thanks to all the readers and  to my fellow team members here for keeping this blog going.  I know I've said it a few times, but damn. Working 7 days a week sucks.I'll be sure to start devoting more time to this place.  I'm planning on giving this place a face-lift too, so if anyone wants to maybe make some banners or other cool stuff like that, send 'em in.  Also, for anyone who doesn't know, I've been doing an online radio show for Core of Destruction every Sunday night at 9 p.m. Central time called "Yeayourite Radio".  I play all types of stuff, mostly sludge/doom, a lot of New Orleans stuff, as well as Outlaw Country, Black  Metal, and whatever else I've been listening to at the time.  Be sure to check Core of Destruction out, and get in the chat room.  They've got 2-3 shows every weeknight, as well as music streaming 24/7.   Anyways, keep checking back, as I said, I'll be giving this place a face lift, so if anyone has any ideas or wants to help, email me  (swampchode@gmail.com).  Submissions will be up in a few days, as well as some videos and stuff.  Thanks again to the Krewe and all of our readers!
