Coming in 2010: One of the most comprehensive southern metal documentaries in history! Appropriately dubbed SLOW SOUTHERN STEEL, the 80+ minute film is executive produced by Karim Khan (I'M BETTER THAN EVERYONE RECORDS) and directed by Rwake vocalist CT and David Lipke with the additional and integral assistance of George Hancock, Alix Petrovich and Beer Wolf guitarist Christian Sweeney (who will be releasing a paperback version of the production) among many others.
SLOW SOUTHERN STEEL peers into the world of true southern metal/doom through live footage and personal interviews; CT's devout commitment/knowledge/love of the topic at hand bringing the movie to life in a way few first-time directors can. Said CT about the laborious undertaking: "I knew there were things I could get out of these bands that other film makers could not." Added Khan, "There's just something very appealing to me about taking unyielding heavy songs and adding a strong southern element to them."

SLOW SOUTHERN STEEL will make its debut at the renowned Little Rock Film Festival in May of 2010 [www.littlerockfilmfestival.org] where many of the bands featured will be in attendance (stay tuned for further details). Additional festival previews will follow.
The DVD edition is slated to be released in 2011 via fast-growing, vinyl-only (and now DVD) Chicago imprint, I'M BETTER THAN EVERYONE RECORDS.

Crawlspace-Live at the Jefferson Lions Home 10/31/89
I've been meaning to post this for a while.
Crawlspace was Mike Williams-vocals, Kevin Bond-guitar, Jeff Durio-guitar, Craig Cazabon-bass, Joe Fazzio-drums.
The quality of this isn't too great, because the audio was transferred from VHS, but it's there. This was a crazy show. There were religious protesters outside the Jefferson Lions Home, TV reporters came and a little bit of Crawlspace's set ended up on the news that night.

I originally started this blog with the intent to create an archive of New Orleans/Louisiana based bands demo's, EP's, full lengths and live recordings. My primary focus was to feature a little bit of everything going on in this great city. There are many bands past and present that have never gotten the recognition that they (in my opinion) truly deserved.
So I figured why not start converting all these demo tapes and etc. and share them with the world? But as I kicked the idea around on a few message boards and with friends, I decided to not just limit the page to Louisiana.
So here you will find artists from all across the globe, some may be well known, others may not. Here at Nola 504 and More, the Krewe and myself all have very unique musical tastes, which I think helps our page really stand out.
Yes, we may feature a lot of metal, but we also have punk, country, jazz, rockabilly, etc. Musical "gumbo" so to speak; meaning a little bit of everything. So, if you are/were in a band from Louisiana, or anywhere else in the world, and care to share it with the rest of the world, drop one of us an email. We'd love to check it out!
