German long-runners, Mindflair return this year after a decade off with their third full-length album to date, Scourge of Mankind. This one sticks pretty closely to their roots and is basically a 13 track amalgamation of grind, pv and crust. Dating back to 1994, these guys have had a lengthy career, albeit a pretty quiet one this last decade but that longevity reflects in their sound. With some bigger grind bands releasing albums this year, it might be easy to pass this one up. Don't..

Here's a ripping DIY Grindcore comp put out by long running label, 625 Thrashcore. I was a long time follower of this label up until, about 5 years ago. I used to buy everything the label put out from the start and pretty much the whole catalog is kickass, there are a few stinkers though! This is release number 69 from the label. You get some well known heavy hitters mixed with some up & comers (for the time, 2002) in the DIY Grindcore scene. Check it out!

Godstomper - Art Damaged Masochists Vol.1 (2001)
Art Damaged Masochists Vol.1Genre - Grindcore/Powerviolence
Origin - Sunnyvale, Ca.
Time - disc 1: 54:56 disc 2: 47.18
File - disc 1: 104.85 MB disc 2: 90.75 MB (320kbps)
Hailing from Sunnyvale, a working class suburb outside of San Francisco California, Godstomper are D.I.Y. noise musicians who support lo-fi analog, do it yourself recordings, anti scenes, antifascist and antiracist organizations, anti rockstar, anti popularity, anti political and religious attitude. Starting in 1991 as a two piece bass and drum band due to their problems of dealing with guitar players, Godstomper recorded a few tape demos in their bedroom of crude death metal and early napalm death inspired grindcore mixed with sample recordings and one such recording, their first, was pressed on a 500 press ep split with Germany’s Skrupel on Rescued from life records in 2005 as a experimental collectors record of bands first demo recordings. Soon Godstomper was put on hiatus as the two brothers Paul barfo and Daniel 666 started their anti music band The Barfos with three guitarists from high school, Dave Winters , Krish Irish and Raina Kumra. The band was a mess of untuned guitars, samples, noise, punk, death metal and sonic youth meets napalm death meets the buthole surfers sound. In 1996 The Barfos went their seperate ways and Paul and Danny started writing songs, influenced by the sounds of San joses shoe gazer heavy indy rock band Calm and Redwood citys Spazz infest influenced powerviolence sound, wrote songs like Fozzy bear about the night one of their friends singer/guitarist John Ogle of the band Fifteen and Wooly Mammoth was punched out by a thug skinhead at a local show and so the was born the start of many of the songs that would make up Godstomper’s two man bass and drum influenced heavy rock powerviolence sound or as they rather see it as structured noise with shouting. Godstomper was born again on febuary 14 1996 at 3am live on KFJC 89.7, a local college radio station Paul was a staff member of and soon a split 7inch with San Jose’s youngest and only grind punk band with female vocals Cathy Ames was put out and the support from the Cupertino library scene and the Redwood city hardcore scene like bands like Slobber, RWs, Agents of Satan, No less, Benumb, The Misanthropists, Uttered Bastard helped create a unified and strong local bay area hardcore scene in the South and West Bay. Bands from the South Bay that also contributed to the support of said bands included Noothgrush, Exhumed, Calm, The Lipids, Psychobabylon, Jenny piccolo, Woolly Mammoth etc…Soon godstomper was putting out splits with local bands they were friends with, playing live radio shows, 924 gilman st. project, solidarity festivals, anarchist fests. Soon offers from much well known diy record labels 625 prod. and Slap A Ham records came in for full length 7inches which the band was happy with since they loved the records that came out on the labels plus their fondness of diy principles that anyone can put out a recording and not with the support of big corporate labels. Godstomper til this day still represents their diy ideals of putting out records on smaller labels , music before profit, supporting new bands, and being a accesible group to young show promoters without the attitude or politics. Through all their ups and down as a band, personal problems, and keeping a moderate position in the music scene unless you mention their attack on the emo scene due to the similarities of the once pompous and ego fueled metal scene of the 80’s, Godstomper still records and plays shows when they can. Killer, Grindcore from Japan brought to you by 625 Thrashcore. This was the bands last recorded effort from 2001 released as a 3" Cd. In the early stages they leaned more towards Death Metal but their sound evolved into stripped down, raw D.I.Y Grindcore. Here's their output before disbanding: a split w/ C.S.S.O (1999), "Sound Systematic Grind" full length (1999), split w/Machetazo (2000) and this (2001).

I thought I would make my first post coincide with my first CD purchase ever. The Grindcrusher Various Artists compilation released by Earache/Combat in 1990. I bought this when I was 11 years old in summer of 1992 at a little used record/book store in Santa Cruz California called Logos. I went there looking for Napalm Death and found the next best thing, or maybe even better. A compilation with all the greatest Earache bands at the time (or ever). Here you will find the most known bands including Morbid Angel, Repulsion, Carcass, Bolt Thrower, Entombed and of course Napalm Death with more obscure bands such as Sore Throat, Naked City, Sweet Tooth, Spazztic Blurr, Mighty Force and Hellbastard. This was a treasure trove of underground Death Metal, Grind and even Noise and Electronic back then, which were completely new to me at the time. Grind Crusher was eventually re-released in a hacked up form with most of the rarer tracks cut off, but this is the original complete version. Enjoy!

Deathbound - We Deserve Much Worse (2007)
"An overdose of violent Grindcore! This album has everything that old-school Grind used to have, it's vile, it's super fast, it's blasphemous, it hates politics and it's really fucking catchy.Deathbound comes from Finland and delivers a blasting quality of Grindcore mixed with Crust and a bad-ass attitude. This band plays similar to their country-mates Väld but with less breakdowns, Deathbound focuses more on playing as fast as their body lets them and as hostile as humanly possible. This, their third album, shows a more dynamic band with slight shots of versatility and explosive structures, an album specially made for crazy Grindcore fans.
Half-Hour of continuous blasting and crushing music doesn't slides easily down your ears; this thing is fucking violent to the bone and will make your head ache after the first listen. So, as you can see, I can't talk much about virtuous execution or intricate musicianship, on the contrary, "We Deserve Much Worse" is a really simplistic album, it starts and ends in the same way, sounding like a machine-gun piercing a concrete wall.
This is surely a very elitist release; people with Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror and Terrorizer in their shelves will instantly fall in love with this band and will find themselves playing this album over and over again, while people into the melodious and fruity side of Metal will puke after hearing the first song...fortunately I have Napalm Death and Terrorizer in my collection. Grinders of the world, enjoy!!" ~ Metalstorm.net

Avulsion are very dynamic in that they play at a wide variety of speeds, such as fast, faster, absurdly fast and perilously fast. I like Avulsion if only because they are one of the few grind bands who seem to actually care what their guitars sound like. If you like Assück or Benümb then you will like this. Did I mention this record is fast? Well, it is, and it’s fucking good too. Still not sold? What are you, retarded?

Enemy Soil - The Ruins Of Eden (1997)
The Ruins Of Eden (1997)Genre - Grind
Origin - Virginia
Time - 22:09 min.
File - 44.79 MB (320kbps)
Enemy Soil was a grindcore band from Virginia, USA formed by Richard Johnson, R. Mason & Vaughn that existed through most of the 1990s. Their lyrics are mostly about sociopolitical subjects with a few covering the "darker side" of personal relationships.
Enemy Soil had one album, "The Ruins of Eden" pressed on vinyl by Insolito Records and on CD by Clean Plate Records and a mini-album, "Fractured Theology" issued by Profane Existence FE. The rest of the band’s releases were EPs, split EPs, and compilation appearances. Some of the bands Enemy Soil put out splits with included Agoraphobic Nosebleed, pg.99, Wadge, Reversal Of Man and Corrupted.
Two of the guys that were in Enemy Soil went on to Pig Destroyer (JR & Brian). Other bands that have ex-Enemy Soil members include Drugs Of Faith (Richard Johnson), Blower (R.Mason/Richard Johnson), Exploding Meth Lab (R. Mason, Vaughn), Autoerotichrist (R.Mason), City of Caterpillar (Jeff Kane), Index (Richard Johnson, R. Mason), Verse En Coma (Jeff Kane), Battletorn (Omid), and Last Black Chapter (R. Mason). Also, the original bassist from Pg.99 was in the band on vocals for a time. (taken from LastFM)

Top notch grindcore out of Virginia! This is the CD version Clean Plate Records put out that includes the "Live at Fiesta Grande #5" flexi. "The Ruins Of Eden" was originally released as a 10" on the German label Insolito Records also in 97'.
Enemy Soil started out as a drum machine grind band and then added a real drummer not long before they headed out to the West Coast to play Fiesta Grande #5 fest. put on by Slap A Ham Records. The band called it quits in the spring of 99' and members went on to form or join other powerhouse units mentioned above.
Not alot of information floating around about Enemy Soil, you can go here and see their out put. I was a big fan of this band and have a good deal of their records except for the split 7" w/Wadge, live in Virginia 7", a few split tapes and the double disc discography titled "Smashes The State!" that Bones Brigade Records put out not long ago. This is killer grindcore!

Throw'n this up after Devildowninga dig'n the Agents Of Satan's tracks on "This Comp Kills Fascists" that he posted yesterday.
The Agents Of Satan formed in Redwood City, Ca. back in 1995 from the ashes of a band called Radioactive Lunch and are still in existence today in one form or another. I'm lucky enough to have witnessed the live brutality brought forth by the A.O.S many times and they always delivered the goods. Here are a few names in the West Bay Coalition family of bands that A.O.S members are in and have been in Deadbodies Everywhere, Plutocracy, Go Like This!, Altamira, Funeral Shock and Apeshit. Not much info here but you can check out some of the previous mentioned bands. Comments are greatly accepted!!

Short, Fast + Loud! Vol.1 (2000)

Short, Fast + Loud! Vol.1 (2000)
Hello readers of "Nola 504 and More" I'm just climbing aboard as a contributor to this great blog. I would like to give a big thanks to Swampchode and crew for the offer to become a member of the team and have a chance to get some tunes out that hopefully a few of you will enjoy. Bare with me as I slowly get the hang of things around here as a contributor as I was just a regular follower. If you like something give support to the band or label and purchase it, also it's really easy to leave comments......Cheers!
Mr.T
I didn't really know where to start so I'll bring a little variety to the plate so to speak....eh!
" Short, Fast + Loud! Vol.1" is a compilation of 40 bands from all over the globe bringing you sonic fury at break neck speeds and grinding heaviness. Released in 2000 by one of my favorite labels throughout the nineties, Slap A Ham Records. The comp shares the name with a 'zine started by Slap A Ham head honcho Chris Dodge (Spazz) and delivers exactly what the title states songs that are short, fast and loud. This was release # 59 in the Slap A Ham catalog that had an output of 64 total from 1989 to 2002. If you can get down to D.I.Y Fastcore, Grindcore, Crust, Noisecore, Powerviolence and Thrash then check this out.

Anal Cunt - It Just Gets Worse
If you can't laugh at a grindcore song titled "Hitler Was a Sensitive Man" there's probably something wrong with you.
Lyrics and song titles aside though, A.C is bare-bones grindcore at its best. Or its worst, whatever.

Chopsley - 2000 - 4 song Demo
The weekend before we were supposed to record all of our songs, we broke up. Only these four demos survived. They were recorded by James Whitten and Greg Stein sometime in early 2000. - taken from Bryan's post found HERE
Track Listing:
1 - We Broke Your Bass
2 - Uptown Straightedge Ninjas
3 - Rectal Anarchy in the UK
4 - Monster X is Back
I managed to catch these guys live one time in their short existence. I had actually forgot all about them until I got in touch with Bryan. If you happened to check out the Eat a Bag of Dicks stuff that I posted, be sure to check this out as well.
Big thanks to Bryan for this!!
Also, Recently, Chopsley reformed with all the original members except for Eddie (who lives in Oakland, California these days) and with the addition of longtime Chopsley adversary Scott (Head Pro, Secret Passage). Soon after practices began, Andy decided to quit the band and move out to Mountainview, California and was replaced by Chopsley side member Eric (Calvin & the Snobbes, Hatchback, PROMIS, Eat a Bag of Dicks, Dear Diary, Red Beards, Rougarou, Secret Passage, etc.). A few shows have been played, more are in the works, and an LP is being written.

Eat a Bag of Dicks - Kissing Croations and Tour EP
Now, a little about the band:
Eat a Bag of Dicks were CRAZY! At one time there were probably literally 15 vocalists. Think punk influenced grind for alcoholics and raging lunatics. Actually, just listen to it. Make your own judgment. If any of you do not like it, I don't care. I just figured I'd share my personal Holiday miracle with all of you.
Track Listing:
1 - Stormseeker - The Source of my Power
2 - I'm In Love with a coffee & company girl
3 - The Massive Hug Rules the Mosh Pit
4 - Soundman! Your Hatred is Tangeable
5 - I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell
6 - Same Old Shit
7 - Undone (The Robinsons' Song)
8 - 10 O'clock in the morning (I'm gonna fuck your ass)
9 - This is for Dave, you fired Dave, I always liked Dave
10- Dan Fox pierced his scrotum for the Saints
11- Wrastlin' is for morons, retards, and stupid bitches
12- The Day everyone ran out to buy American flag paraphernalia for every day of the week.
13- Come wit it now, crowd, give me an "I" and follow that up with an Njustice
Seriously, this made my day.

Huge, morbidly obese thanks to Bryan F!!!!!

Unholy Grave - collection

So it's been a while since I posted something, mostly because things have been a little hectic starting in November, so to make up for it I bring you my entire collection of Unholy Grave. One of my favorite Grind bands, they tend to focus on politics and social issues more than the usual Grind subject matter. Most of the releases in here are splits, and the other bands are worth a listen as well.
Included:
Malignant Tumour & Unholy Grave split EP (2000)
Mass Separation & Unholy Grave split CD (1998)
Rotten Sound & Unholy Grave (2001)
Death Comes From Nowhere demo (1993)
Unholy Grave - Terror EP 7'' (1997)
Unholy Grave - Tortured Alive 10'' (1999)
Unholy Grave & Capitalist Casualties - Racism split (1999)
Unholy Grave & Catheter split EP (2003)
Unholy Grave & Depressor Split EP (2003)
Unholy Grave & Embalming Theatre - Ignorance, Catapult For Steaming Cadavers (2001)
Unholy Grave & Gang Up On Against split EP (2001)
Unholy Grave & Godstomper split EP (2002)
Unholy Grave & Kerum (2002)
Unholy Grave & Mitten Spider split EP (2003)
Unholy Grave & Shank (2000)
Unholy Grave & Terrorism split EP (2002)
Waking Terror & Unholy Grave (2005)
Download is in 5 parts. It's a little over 400mb, and for most people dividing it should result in a faster download. Download all 5 and open Part 1 in Winrar (or equivilant). Enjoy:

Skinkrawl
"Our vision for SkinKrawL was always to be the most abrasive live act in the world. We toured hard and played harder, getting banned from venues around the South. I went to the emergency room more than once from injuries sustained during our shows, and several other members have permanent scars to show. We came close to being signed near the end, but it just wasn't meant to happen. We broke up shortly before Hurricane Katrina due to personal differences, with two members going on to join a rock band from Chicago called Before the Wait.
Track Listing:
1. Self Inflicted
2. Once Again
3. Don't Look
4. Nothing Left
5. Looking Glass
SkinKrawl is/was a band that I saw numerous times back in the day. I came across this the other day while looking for a Demo by another local band for my friend Devildowninga. These guys were on to something good, I'd have really like to have seen how they would have progressed had they not split up. Anyways, check it out.
Oh, and the demo that I was looking for was by another local NOLA band called "Crawfish Fossil". If anyone reading this has that demo, PLEASE email me. It would be mucho appreciated.
