Hiatus - Old Fashioned Shit For Consumers (1995)

Genre - Crust
Origin - Liege, Belgium
Time - 67:27 min.
File - 134.16MB (320kbps)

Hiatus formed in May [[1989]], at this time the line up was Phill, Ben, Raf and Phil. They played in a [[Doom (band)Doom]]/[[Discharge (band)Discharge]]/[[Extreme Noise TerrorE.N.T.]] style and recorded a rehearsal demo called "The Frightening Men Story". In May 90 they put out their second rehearsal demo called "In My Mind" and soon after Wills joined them on bass. The band went into the studio and recorded a set of songs which were released on two 7"'s and various compilations. Their first 7" "I don't scare easily but..." was released on the French label Urban Alert rec. and had a second pressing on Nabate/Mother Peace rec. A split 7" with RMR from Japan called "Severe Existence" was Hiatus' second 7" and was released on the Japanese label MCR Co. Phil and Raf left and some new members joined: Azill on guitars and vocals and for a short time Vrokker and Leffe from [[Chronic Disease (band)Chronic Disease]]. During August 91 Hiatus toured the U.S.A and Canada with [[The Wurst]] from Rhode Island and played with bands like [[Rorschach (band)Rorschach]], and [[Born Against]]. In November 1991 they recorded another studio session. From this recording the "Way Of Doom" 7" and Hiatus/Embittered 7" were released in 1992. In February 1992 Hiatus toured Europe with No Security from Sweden, also in 1992 they toured the UK with [[Mushroom Attack]] from Holland. In 1993 their "From Resignation ... To Revolt" LP was released on [[Sound Pollution]]. Hiatus also toured Europe and Eastern Europe that year. Among others, there were four dates in Sweden, booked by the band [[Viktors Haufnarren]] and [[Resistance Productions]]. The four France dates ere booked by [[Six feet Over]], [[Ultimate Disorder]], [[Catalogue Du Grand Nord]] and [[Maloka collective]]. In early August they made a five dates tour in Spain with the band [[Six Feet Over]]. The tour was booked by a member of the Spanish band [[Positi Caustico]]. The 15th of August in the "Festes Alternatives a Gracia" in Barna date was a huge success, with thousands of punks and anarchists. Hiatus played there with the band [[Speereth]]. The last date in the tour was in Luxemburg, toured by Diff ([[No More]] and [[Subway Arts]]). In early '94 the Doom/Hiatus 7" was released. In February 1995 they recorded their "El sueno de la razon produce monstruos" LP. In June '95 they toured the USA and Canada again. A self titled mini LP was released on Skuld Releases/[[Profane Existence]] in 1996, the songs on it showed a big progression from their earlier releases with elements of modern [[hardcore punkhardcore]] being added to their [[crustpunk]] sound. Azill and Willy from Hiatus also play in [[Unhinged]] who have a 7" and LP out on [[Nabate]]. (myspace)

This killer disc came out on Ataque Sonoro, a label from Portugal. I always dug the sound that Hiatus created. I caught wind of these Belgian ragers from my friend Joe, by being a regular at his record store. He would always have the turntable blasting, usually new slabs that he had just got in before they made their way into the bins and into his collection.
One day back in '91 I stopped in to see what was new and he was blasting the "Way Of Doom" ep that he had just got in from Profane Existence, a label and zine that he stocked regularly. I immediately asked who was playing on the turntable, he told me and showed me the little stack of copies he had just unpacked and I purchased a couple of copies and was hooked.
This disc is comprised from the bands works between 1990 - 1994. What you get is demo's, live tracks, comp tracks, ep's & split ep's. Missing material in the bands catalog is "The Frightening Men Story" demo(1989), "From Resignation..To Revolt"Lp(1993), "El Sueno De La Razon Produce Monstruos"Lp (1995), Hiatus MLP(1996). Here's their page so go pay them a visit. Enjoy!

The Sex Maniacs (2004)

Genre - Hardcore, Punk n'Roll
Origin - Leeds, U.K
Time - 21:53 min.
File - 43.53 MB (320 kbps)

Sometime in 1999 four cunts got together in a practice room above a shitty record shop, broke out a bottle of JD and decided to become the ultimate rock and roll band. Although at the time three of these cunts were in the ultimate hardcore band this just was not enough, there was much more to prove. After about 30 minutes they had achieved their goal and wrote a bunch of songs that would later be released by the cuntish Eccentric Man Records as the critically acclaimed album Mean as Hell. To many Mean as Hell is a humbling experience and much demand was placed on The Sex Maniacs to perform live. They took to the boards like a tranny to lipstick, smoking every shitty band they came into contact with. The success of Mean as Hell left the band reeling, the album had gone global thanks to a reissue by the american emo label Manic Ride Records. Never had so much alcohol, narcotics and girls been thrust toward one band. Work on the follow up to Mean As Hell began but after 15 minutes, with half an album written one of the cunts (Heysi) decided to leave the band. The Sex Maniacs are only human and this kind of living can take its toll. After four years of constant abuse Heysi had to bow out, he could not take another day and became disillusioned with the rock and roll experience. Another cunt (Farley) was quickly recruited and after a further 15 minutes the follow up record had been written. Farley fit in nicely and delivered everytime but the sex maniacs soon faced another bass player related tragedy. Farley, like the true sex maniac he is likes to play hard and sometimes folk take exception to this kind of behaviour. No sooner had he joined he was picked up by the law, wanted for crimes that cannot be discussed here as it may harm his appeal and done got slung in the clink! So once again The Sex Maniacs found themselves without a bass player, but a replacement was waiting in the wings in the shape of Dougie from Gentlemans Pistols. The Sex Maniacs are once again pumped and ready to take the stage and that second album is in our sights. If you want to book us then start saving up for our rider and get in touch. (last.fm)

Track List:
1. Dollar$
2. Time To Rock
3. Sabretooth
4. Gimme Nothing
5. Four Big Dicks
6. You'll Never Learn
7. Don't Hate Me
8. Broken Down Clown
9. All That Fire
10. Prick
11. Illegal Libido
12. Conjugal Blues

The Sex Maniacs feature 3 members of the UK hardcore band Voorhees and a member from The Horror. The sound they create here is nothing like either band. Think Dwarves mixed with Motorhead and Bon Scott era AC/DC. This is the state side release that was put out by Manic Ride, the label that Deadalive records morphed into. Both Deadalive and Manic Ride put out some killer hardcore slabs in the late 90's and early 2000. I think the label is now defunct, but I used to follow it quite closely and own a lot of their output. The paragraph above says it was a emo label but it must be a joke.

Grimple/Logical Nonsense - Split (1993)

Grimple/Logical Nonsense

Genre - Metal infused Hardcore Punk
Origin - Oakland, Ca./Santa Fe, NM.
Time - 34:41 min.
File - 68.47 MB (320kbps)

GRIMPLE was formed in November 1990 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a town cradled by the Blood Of Christ Mountains. We were raised on metal and early hardcore, but we were never afraid of listening to other types of music, like the SUGAR HILL GANG. GRIMPLE moved to Oakland, CA in August of 1991. The first GRIMPLE recording was a four song EP called, "Get Me Out Of My Van, I Have No Key." It was recorded in our Oakland practice space by Noah Landis (Neurosis) and our friend Darby. The music was melodic punk rock mixed with fast hardcore. GRIMPLE recorded its first full length LP, "Up Your Ass," in March of 1992. It was recorded by Kevin Army in San Francisco at Sound & Vision Studios, and mixed at Dancing Dog Studios in Oakland. "UP YOUR ASS," was first released by M&E Records (Murray Bowles and Eric Yee), and It was later re-released by East Bay Menace Records. Our first LP was a success, and thousands were sold in the states, as well as Japan. We completed our first American tour in 1992, and it consisted of playing small clubs, basements, and garages. It was fun, and it was a great introduction to freedom for all of us. Both of these records are now available, once again, from Prank Records. GRIMPLE'S next recording was a split LP with LOGICAL NONSENSE. It was recorded once more by Noah Landis in July of 1993 at Sergay's Recording Emporium. Our sound was still fast punk, but we were revealing more of our metal influences. This record was originally released by East Bay Menace records, but is now being pressed again by Prank Records in San Francisco. -Pat Vigil

LOGICAL NONSENSE Born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the six individuals comprising LOGICAL NONSENSE have been a band since 1989. no longer together, they began playing together in their early teens and - with no member changes - they have grown and evolved, creating a singularly unique, brutal style of hardcore. The drummer, Pat, says that being together as a band became a dominant force in their lives. He attributes their learning to play music together at such a young age to their closeness and dedication to each other and the music. Known for their fast, aggressive style, their music has progressed over the last three full-lengths (’93’s Dead Time LP on Very Small Records, Soul Pollution LP/CD), becoming heavier and lyrically and musically more personal... Back when we started, the music was more influence-driven. Soul Pollution, engineered and mixed by Neurosis’ Noah Landis, is a touch more stripped down and driving than the more recent Expand The Hive. But it’s every bit as brutal. It’s the aural equivalent of drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels, inhaling enough toxic drugs to bring down an elephant and then driving 100 miles an hours round hairpin turns with nothing but a rocky cliff and the ocean to catch you if you fall. Reminiscent of bands like Extreme Noise Terror and early Napalm Death, LOGICAL’s sound has grown more and more ferocious and unrelenting with each recording. Alternative Tentacles head honcho, Jello Biafra, claims they renew my faith in the power of hardcore, and they fill the gap left by Sepultura. The lazy listener may make the incorrect assumption that heavy = metal. But there is so much more to LOGICAL’s sound and to the people who listen to them. Their sound doesn’t easily fit into a genre, a category or a classification. Pat agrees, I don’t want to be classified. I want as many people to listen to our music as possible. LOGICAL NONSENSE’s aural attack leaves a residue upon your psyche not easily wiped clean. One listen to Soul Pollution or Expand The Hive and it will weigh heavy on your soul. With a brutal, rapid-fire verbal attack, singer Mikey Miller writes songs that revolve around a myriad of themes: corruption, social decay, despair, hypocrisy, addiction, stagnation and even aliens. Logical Nonsense belongs to of a new generation of extreme hardcore. Myspace

I bought this the day it hit the streets and I found it tucked away a few weeks ago and put it into heavy rotation around my compound. My boy and I have been circle pitting around the coffee table and doing couch dives ever since...haha! This nice little slab came out on the short lived, East Bay Menace Records out of Oakland back in '93. On this split both bands came out sounding a bit heavier than their previous outings by adding a little metal into their hardcore punk giving both bands a nastier sounding edge. Check out Logical Nonsense and Grimple, good tunes.

Damn Laser Vampires - Gotham Beggars Syndicate (2008)

"If Quentin Tarantino were to make a film based on a Bram Stroker novel, Damn Laser Vampires US debut Gotham Beggars Syndicate would be the soundtrack.

Damn Laser Vampires is a post-punk trio that brings elements such as polka, psychobilly, and new wave into a strange ground filled with high energy performances, menacing vocals, and an otherworldly ability to mystify and entertain. Traditional punk receives a dose of Transylvanian attitude as Damn Laser Vampires yell, scream, and howl through songs of God, The Devil, sex, drugs, alcohol, and self-doubt.

Ronaldo Selistre wails, growls, and snarls through the 13 track punk-psychobilly mayhem that is Gotham Beggars Syndicate . Selistre s vocals simultaneously entice and petrify, leaving the question of whether the sounds of this groaning Brazilian are those of pain, pleasure, or murder. Selistre, along with Francis K, provide the guitar work for the album: a dual layered sound of dark undertones and punk-blues riffs. Backed by Michael Munhoz providing roots meets punk driven sounds on percussion, Selistre and Francis K. provide the guitar sounds of a punk rock cabaret of all things macabre: as if The Hives were cross-bred with Nick Cave.

Born in 2005 in the cold Porto Alegre city, south of Brazil, they made their debut with the independent EP The Devil Is a Preacher , which immediately caught the attention of alternative media and brought a new color to the local underground musical scene. In their first two years of life, the southern Vampires have printed a trademark on the Brazilian alternative universe. They ve traveled through the country, playing in bars, halls, and festivals including Goiania Noise ( Brazil s main indie festival); jumped to the pages of the Brazilian Rolling Stone magazine; and put four tracks in the soundtrack of the new Gustavo Spolidoro film Ainda Orangotangos ( Still Orangutans ) which recently completed its successful participation in international cinema festivals in the Netherlands and Canada .

April brings the United States debut of Damn Laser Vampires with Gotham Beggars Syndicate . Thirteen songs of hard hitting sounds that will make all take notice. Songs such as Saint of Killers and The Devil is a Preacher demonstrate storytelling not traditionally found in the punk sound. Graveyard Polka brings the sound of an accordion to a new demonic low. Alongside these tracks traditional new wave influenced punk shines at its best with songs such as Sprawl , M.I. , and Bracadabro .

Strong Intention - Each Day Lived...An Act Of Defiance (2000)

On tour next month with Eyehategod. Check 'em out!!

"Formed in 1993, STRONG INTENTION continues to deliver brutal hardcore fueled by extreme speed, heaviness, and disgust. The band's earliest incarnation found itself heavily Influenced by classic NYHC outfits such as AGNOSTIC FRONT, BREAKDOWN, and the CRO-MAGS, and released the What's At Stake demo in 1993. These early recordings aligned the band with ultra-tough heavy hardcore represented in Maryland by NEXT STEP UP and GUT INSTINCT. But by 1995, issues of focus took their toll on the lineup, leaving then-guitarist Zac as the only original member, and putting the band into a year-long hiatus. In 1996, the band re-formed around a new core lineup, and the new members brought a new, diverse range of ideas and influences to the band. Gradually writing faster and faster material, the band released a debut 7" EP in 1996 on Crucial Blast. This EP was a minor departure from the earlier heavy NYHC hardcore the band had been known for; as the newer material was much faster and moved Zac over to lead vocals. After the EP was released, STRONG INTENTION continued to go through a myriad of lineup changes throughout the 90's; yet managed to tour the US and Canada 5 times.

Through all of this, the band's sound has continued to shift more and more towards the harshest ends of the underground extreme hardcore / metal spectrum, as well as cultivate a thoroughly apocalyptic worldview.

Recent actions have included the May 2002 STRONG INTENTION / CRIPPLE BASTARDS East Coast tour, the release of the band's latest recording, a 14 song CD entitled Extermination Vision, released on the European label COALITION RECORDS, and a BRAND NEW split EP with Germany's Y. Over the past 2 years, the band has also released their debut LP/CD, What Else Can We Do..., as well as the 10 song 7" EP Each Day Lived An Act Of Defiance on California label SIX WEEKS.

Strong Intention also completed a May 2004 East Coast tour with PHOBIA and ROTTEN SOUND (Finalnd) and just completed a 40day US summer tour with crossover legends D.R.I.

2005 saw more touring from S.I. , including 2 US tours and about 75 shows for the year.

In 2006 the band did a Feb/March US tour with NEURAXIS (Prosthetic), which included west coast dates with IMPALED and DISFEAR and marked the bands first show ever in MEXICO. The band followed up that tour with an east coast/midwest tour with DISFEAR,MISERY INDEX, PHOBIA and 9 SHOCKS TERROR. It was definitely a career high point as far as touring goes.

Once the tour was completed the band went into the studio with STEVE AUSTIN (TODAY IS THE DAY) and worked on the follow up to Extermination Vision. 18 songs were recorded and 2010 will finally see the release of the new cd.........FREEDOM IS SLAVERY !!" ~ Band's Myspace

Deep Turtle - There's a Vomitsprinkler in My Liverriver (1994)

1994 - There's A Vomitsprinkler In My Liverriver

Formed in 1990, Deep Turtle was a product of the burgeoning underground music culture of the city of Pori, Finland. Deep Turtle's music fused the energy of hardcore punk, the harmonies of jazz, latin rhythms, and the experimentalism of progressive rock into a style, which was sometimes dubbed jazzcore  or weirdcore by listeners and reviewers. Signature elements of the band's music were an abundance of uncommon time signatures; frantic and abrupt mood changes between soft jazz tones and blistering punk  assault; nimble bass guitar work providing a counterpoint  to the guitar  attack; and often indecipherable lyrics delivered both in Spanish and in English. Some comparisons have been made to bands like Cardiacs  (Turtle's 1994 album in fact has a song titled Cardiako) and NoMeansNo.

Deep Turtle broke up in 1996 but reformed again in 2002, only to disband again in 2004 due to drummer Erjossaari's insurmountable difficulties with tinnitus, which forced him to quit the band.

Deep Turtle made Finnish music history by being the first Finnish band to be invited to do a John Peel session in 1994. Contrary to public belief, Peel was not present at the studio, and he never managed to meet the band in person.

Scald - Fluke (2007)

"Limited Edition pressing of this 2008 CD EP from the Irish Metal band. Since forming almost 15 years ago from the remains of Irish crust bands TVP and Bleeding Rectum, Belfast's Scald have garnered a reputation for shunning the usual conventions to create original music that's as enigmatic as it is visceral. Fluke is a vicious indictment of the global Catholic Church and it's secretive history of greed and manipulation. Five tracks of blackened, grinding Metal performed at breakneck pace provide a platform for a scathing attack, spat and screamed forth in Scald's inimitable and immediately identifiable style. The EP finishes with a 25 minute; sprawling ambient noise composition that uses captured and processed audio from the Fluke session and an Italian spoken-word monologue. The album has a running time of 40 minutes" ~ Cduniverse

Antarctica vs. the World started in 2000 in the city of New Orleans as the brainchild of Cos Solo and Dreux Ghoul. Obsessed with horror movies and punk rock, the duo decided to form a project that would encompass both interests. AVW was born. With Cos on vocals and Dreux on bass, AVW acquired Billy Bones on drums. The problem they immediately faced was a rotating cast of guitar players. After playing several shows eventually a very young Kevin Dredge was recruited to the cause, and the first serious version of AVW was solidified. After a couple of years of playing with only local recognition, Dreux was involved in an accident that prevented him from playing in several booked shows. Karla Devil of The Picts was asked to fill in for a short time, and eventually Greg Dreadfull took over bass duties full time. This version of AVW continued to pick up steam, but eventually Greg too would move on. At this time Karla was asked to come back as a permanent member. This was opportune for her as her full-time band, The Picts, was currently without a drummer. Kevin has also been playing guitar for The Picts, and a tight well-oiled machine had been formed in the way of a trio consisting of himself, Karla, and the singer/lead guitarist for The Picts, Jim.

Here is another band that is unfortunately no longer with us.  It's a damn shame too, the live shows that these guys played were awesome.  I remember seeing these guys playing with Eat A Bag of Dicks a few times I believe. I lost my copy of this a good while back too but,  luckily for me, I had copied it for a friend of mine.  Obviously he found it and hooked me up.  This album may be a little repetitive at times to some people but fuck 'em, I like it.

The Reverend Horton Heat - The Full Custom Gospel Sounds Of.....(1993)

This is probably my favorite album by these crazy Texan's, but everything they've put out is really good. But what do you get when you mix Gibby Haynes with The Rev. and crew? Badassness, that's what...Not a filler song on this one and "Bales Of Cocaine" and "400 Bucks" are just flat out awesome! I've been listening to this from time to time for the last 15 years and it NEVER gets old.

"When the Reverend Horton Heat returned with a sophomore album, he had fellow manic Texan Gibby Haynes (of Butthole Surfers fame) riding the production board. Recorded in Memphis's Ardent Studios, GOSPEL SOUNDS is yet another rabble-rousing batch of slap bass, breakneck-speed guitar, and the raspy singing of the good Reverend Heat (Jim Heath).

When Heat isn't whooping it up with the lascivious "Wiggle Stick," he's putting on a nimble display of fingerpicking on the instrumental "Beer: 30." Unfettered garage rock is furiously delivered on such manic workouts as "Big Little Baby," the runaway "Lonesome Train," and the chugging, fleet-fingered "Bales of Cocaine," an amusing tale of drug smugglers. A highlight is the Mojo Nixon-flavored and absurd "You Can't Get Away From Me," a rollicking ditty about a groupie in which the Stray Cats, Charlie Sexton, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are mentioned. It's all wrapped up by the absurdist singalong double-entendre "Nurture My Pig," which segues into the avant-garde "Gin and Tonic Blues," an atonal dirge that the Reverend admitted to passing out in the middle of recording." ~ cdUniverse.com

The Zydepunks - ...and the streets will flow with whiskey (2005)

2005 - ...and the streets will flow with whiskey

Review of "…And the Streets Will Flow With Whiskey"
by "Barnacle" Brian Gillespie, shitenonions.com

It's almost October, and this is my choice for album of the year!

I've been waiting to hear this album for years. Even before I'd ever heard the album, or even heard of The Zydepunks, I've been wanting to hear Cajun-punk. I remember discussing the idea of starting a Cajun-flavored punk band with a few friends years ago as a joke, it sounded like a great idea. Too bad none of us had any clue about Cajun music, Zydeco music, or anything remotely close. We figured there were probably a few bands in Nawlins already doing it, and our discussion altered into who was buying the next round.

A couple of years later at a BBQ, I heard a Zydepunks song and got so excited, I attempted a drunken back flip, and landed on my head. lying upside down between the bushes, grass, a fence, and dog shit, at the edge of my buddies yard, I screamed "FUCK YEAH!" It was so original, fresh, and exciting. A totally new sound. I couldn't get enough. (True story!)

The Zydepunks like to call their flavor of music: Bayou Gypsy Punk. It's a combination of: New Orleans Cajun-Irish-Breton-Klezmer-Slavic-Zydeco, and let me tell you, since the BBQ, I've been listening to it non-stop. If the combination of genres isn't enough for you, maybe the combination of languages will wet your whistle. The Zydepunks sing in English, French, German, Spanish, Yiddish, and Portuguese. The album "And The Streets Will Flow With Whiskey" is all over the place. The placement of the songs seriously reminded me of listening to The Pogues album "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" for the first time. The songs are all over the place. You'll be smiling from ear to ear with an irresistible urge to dive nose first into a bowl of gumbo. (Maybe that's just me.) It's an album you'll play in it's entirety, you won't want to skip a track. After a description like that, what more needs to be said? A whole helluvalot.

I'm sure what happened to New Orleans, and the Gulf Coast is still in your thoughts. I'd like to happily mention that even if the members of The Zydepunks are temporarily scattered across the globe. (From North Carolina to Austria) Not even a fucking hurricane (Or two) will stop them, or their music. They'll be playing a Halloween show in Memphis, so make sure you support them when they come through your town. Even their CD's have been saved from the storm. So make sure you pick one up if you're lucky enough to see them live, or if you live too far away, you can order it from their website: http://www.zydepunks.com/store.php So, if you're looking to hear something somewhat similar to Celt-Punk, but with a spicy Cajun twist, I suggest picking up a copy right now, play it at a backyard BBQ, and keep an eye out for the village idiot attempting a back flip into the bushes.

Track Listing:

1.  Madeleine
2.  Satan
3.  Lowlands Of Baghdad
4.  A Fistful Of Oysters
5.  Bwamba's Rambles
6.  Eve's
7.  Tumbalalaika

9.  Con ti sw va mi corazon
10. Romanian Hora & Bulgar
11. Johnny Can't Dance
12. Die Schwimmbadpiraten
13. Mabel's Got The Blues

I  have been listening to these guys a lot as of late so I figured I'd share.  I didn't bother looking to see if they were even posted anywhere else in the Blogosphere, so if you have no idea who The Zydepunks are, please do yourself a favor a check them out.

The Pallbearers - Murder Capital (2009)

2009 - Murder Capital

Back in 1997 the Pallbearers hit the New Orleans scene...

The Pallbearers - Sex Crime Of The Century (2008)

In 1997 The Pallbearers were born into this craphole of a world as a four piece drunken punk blast of disgusted hate and pure violence. They started off under the name "Street Trash" and had a set list that was about 15 minutes long and consisted of 12 extremely fast songs pulling influence from Poison Idea and early dri. They played their first gig as "The Pallbearers" at the Dixie Tavern with Blanks 77 and the Anti Heroes on one nasty summer night. The first song performed, "Beat My Bone", ended with vocalist, Richie Roachclip, strangling a member of the audience with his mic chord and then-guitarist, Seth Buttsac, relentlessly kicking at peoples faces in defence of a sudden drunken attack! This was the first of many violent shows by The Pallbearers. in 1998 they played a show with Eyehategod that resulted in a 30-man-fistfight on Canal street. In 2000 they played the State Palace Theater with 3 straight-edge bands and still manged to instigate a borderline riot of drunken rage. This chaotic nature obviously carries into the sound of studio material the band has laid down in the past. They were featured on a dwarves tribute on transparent records in 1999 performing the track "Insect Whore". Soon after in 2000 they released an 11 song 7" vinyl entitled "Drinkin' With The Dead" which featured chilling cover art by drummer Bill Heintz. While it lasted, Transparent Records was the perfect label for The Pallbearers, featuring such bands as The Undead, The Fartz, and Human Buffet. Their last release with Transparent was an Accused tribute called "Mechanized Death" where they covered "f*%k!n for bux" in all it's splatter-thrash glory. After all that crap settled they dove into the horror film industry with New Orleans' own Terroroptics on a project called "Attack of the C*%kface Killer". With Richie's gore fx knowledge on hand and Bill's artistic desire to gross people out the results were no less than offensively disgusting. While working on the film they put together a GG Allin tribute show and learned about 30 of his songs to be performed on august 1st 2001 at the Dixie Tavern with support from The Headwoundz, Fight the Goober, and The No-shows. Around that time they scooped up a new guitarist (Andy) and bassist (Marvin) which led to a chunkier and more precise sound for the band. Not only did the music evolve a bit, but so did the lyrics. The theme's became more elaborate and of course...sicker. Songs like "Crooked Crematory", "Busride Boom", and "Ripped to s..!ts" started popping up on their live sets and it really gave the drunks in the crowd a bit more to move to (they could actually pit instead of just beating the crap out of each other). In 2003 the gang worked on the next Terroroptics film project, "Stabbed in the face", which took a more serious approach to traditional film making than their previous efforts. in 2005 The Pallbearers were featured on the "Lewd Conduct" compilation released by local label, Rectum Records, which includes 26 bands from Louisiana. on august 5th 2005 they played a Lewd Conduct cd release show with Manwitch, The Sutures, and Suffocating Lindsay at Lounge Lizards on Decatur sporting the current line up with Howie Doin on bass and Brun on guitar. A few weeks after, the stinkin' hurricane hit and they all fled to four points of the compass. After reforming from evacuation they began playing shows as soon as possible, the scene was dead but soon came around as people returned. 2006 brought 2 releases from The Pallbearers on Rectum Records. First up was "Cult Classics", a collection of the early recordings ranging from 1997 to 2001. Second was "Video Nasties", a collection of songs recorded from 2002 to 2006.  Over the years the pallbearers have performed with such acts as: Dead Kennedys, Fear, d.r.i., Agnostic Front, The Nobodys, The Offenders, Verbal Abuse, The Regulations, Toys that kill, Bulemics, Defiance, The Casualties, The Ghouls, The Independents, Reason of Insanity, D!ck Delicious, The Helltones, Debris Inc, Fyp, Rancid vat, Eerie ln., Murder junkies and many more. - taken from their Myspace

After playing for 11 fucking years The Pallbearers have recorded their FIRST EVER studio album.  2008's "Sex Crime of The Century".  Clocking in right over 22 minutes, this album will rip and fuck your face from start to finish.

Morning 40 Federation - S/T

2004 release from these crazy NOLA vets that somehow causes the listener to start drinking heavily before the first song is even over. Every friggin' time! Gotta thank Swampchode for turning me onto these guys in the first place. Very cool...

"Formed in 1997 in New Orleans, LA, by saxophonist and vocalist Josh Cohen and trombonist and lead tubaist Space Rickshaw, Morning 40 Federation soon made waves locally at house parties and small clubs and bars. After achieving a more "secure" lineup -- including Bailey Smith (guitars), Ryan Scully (guitars), Steve Calandra (bass), and Mike Andrepont (drums) -- the band began to attract some important attention, and after self-releasing two full-lengths, You My Brother in 2000 and Trick Nasty in 2002, Morning 40 Federation -- or the 40s, as they were labeled by those "in the know" -- scored a record deal with M80 Records. Their first work for their new label, the self-titled Morning 40 Federation, was critically well received. Their next studio foray, Ticonderoga, was released to even more plaudits in 2006." ~ Chris True, All Music Guide

"shoot the hostages played shows and put out a 7" and a cd. they did a u.s. tour and broke up soon after returning home. more bands should follow their example and break up before they start to suck. it would make the world a better place. seriously. although the band no longer performs together, they still accept gifts and cash donations. speaking of which, there's talk of a discography coming out that includes all the comp songs and covers. you should totally buy that shit." - Myspace

Killin' Werewolves - Me-Maw Demos

While Killin' Werewolves are still a pretty new band, they have been stirring up some ruckus down here in the "Chocolate City".

"Were still a pretty new band, only been together since i want to say the summer of '08. Mason, our drummer, and I, Wes who plays bass, have been friends for a long time and we're in an Alk3 style pop-punk band called Attack the Gas Station for a while that played a good bit of shows. Daryl, guitarist, and Drew, the other bassist, were playing in a band called Party Time. Drew and Daryl wanted to play more poppy music while Mason and I wanted to play heavier. We all listen to all kinds of music but as a whole our band is obsessed with The Refused and Jewel. Playing a show on Feb 6th with Worn in Red (no idea records) and The Lollies. We have an ongoing contest with The Lollies to see who can put on a more violent show." - Wes

They are currently ravaging the states with their unique sound of furious, twanged-out, punk rock gutterbilly. Watch for them on corners, clubs and city jails in your town. - taken from their Myspace
